Devonshire Street Newcastle

I already have a couple of photos of this small street in Newcastle. This photo is taken from King St looking up Devonshire St and through to Hunter St. I thought the light and shade from the streetlight looked wonderful. Looking down the street, the streetlights light up a brick building on the other side of Hunter Street.

This is a HDR of 4 bracketed shots. I love the curve of the metal frames and the shape of the sails.

Comments on my Blog..........

Gidday Everyone,

I have had comments on my blog from persons who wish to remain anonymous.   Not that there is anything wrong with that, however...........

I put information on here about myself and my family so that my extended family & friends interstate and overseas can keep up with what is happening.  I also like to show off my photographs.

If you have something to contribute, then I believe that it is simply a matter of common courtesy to provide correct identification of yourself and also to provide contact details.    I expect open and frank 'comment conversation' with all who wish to do so on my blog; I believe it equates to trust and honesty.

This is my blog, and those are my rules!  I ask that you respect them!

Sunrise at the Bogey Hole

Took an early morning walk to the Bogey Hole to record the sunrise there. What a fantastic place! It was simply beautiful the other morning! Most definitely not a place to go bathing as the tide comes in!! The Bogey Hole was constructed by convicts under the orders of Commandant Morisset in about 1820 for his own personal use. Morisset was Commandant of Newcastle from 1819 to 1822. It was known, originally as the "Commandants Baths". The name "Bogey Hole" was applied afterwards and comes from the indigenous word meaning "to bathe". It is still a very popular site with the locals.

Nelson Bay Marina

We had a day out to Nelson Bay a couple of weeks ago. It started out as a wonderful day but, on arriving at Fingal Beach to give Barney a run and swim, a heavy squall came over sudden and we were soaked to the bone!

I am really happy with this photo because I captured what I set out to get! The boardwalk and mooring poles providing the perspective and the great angles from fishing rods and masts off the boats. I also love black and white photos!

Well, I certainly wish that one of these beauties was mine!!

Such a Beautiful Day!

WOW, what a beautiful day it is today!   We had to head into the Newcastle CBD to drop in Kaseys latest assignment for her and decided to take Barney with us.   We had a great time walking around King Edward Park; we had never really gone exploring there before!   I will have to revisit there with my camera; it is such a picture perfect location!

Today being Monday, it is half price day at Blue Water Pizza on the Foreshore Boardwalk.    We sat on the dock area and Barney was so well behaved!   There were so many new smells and things to see for our inquisitive pup and, everyone we met would stop to have a pat and a chat!    It was just bliss to sit there soaking in the sun [not a cloud in the sky] enjoying the sights and sounds of the busy Port Hunter !

Barney is absolutely knackered now and crashed in the car on the way home!

After such a lovely morning I can’t believe I have to have an afternoon Nanna Nap before going to work tonight!  No rest for the wicked I guess!

Stockton Bridge from the Fern Bay Wetlands

A panorama consisting of 6 [if my memory serves me well!!] separate photos and then stitched in PhotoShop Elements 8.

Teralba Wetlands

There is this beautiful lagoon on The Weir Road. It is difficult to get a shot because the road is lined by crash barriers and there is no safe place to park. I'll have to do a little more recon to find an access spot. Either way, I think I will need gumboots to get close enough. This was captured at full zoom [hand held] and I consider myself lucky that I didnt get any hand shake!

This was taken on The Weir Road Teralba, as it goes under the Sydney-Newcastle rail line. The cars really fly through this narrow gap!

Disappearing Photos

I have been updating my photos on Flickr with a watermark to protect them from unauthorised downloading.  Unfortunately, when the image is saved and replaces the original image the link to my blog changes and all the photo linked from Flickr have disappeared.   Bit disappointing but, from now on, all photos will be better protected.
